This intensive 2-day film acting workshop is ideal for established actors who want to refine their ON CAMERA skills, experienced stage actors who want to develop more confidence ON CAMERA and those actors who are totally new to acting ON CAMERA. The small class size (8 actors maximum) allows each actor to improve skills on an individualized basis.

Day #1 covers – Securing a Film Job:
– Actors are asked to perform a 2-minute monologue (comic or dramatic) ON CAMERA. This allows for evaluation of each Actor’s film acting skills and what can be improved on.
– Various audition and cold reading techniques are demonstrated.
– If Actors have an acting reel this is reviewed and evaluated.
– What directors and casting directors are looking for in an audition is reviewed.
– Each Actor will be given a scene from a film script to study overnight and perform ON CAMERA the next day.
Day # 2 covers – Your First Day On Set:
– The Actors will perform the assigned scene on camera, with notes given and the chance to improve the performance.
– Improvisation is used to demonstrated its value for character development.
– Proper eye lines, hitting marks, continuity of action and vocal control will be reviewed

– As a final step: actors will perform the same monologue from the first day, with newly found confidence and ON CAMERA skills.

– A copy of the taped monologue will be given to each actor for personal use and/or for their acting reel.

Aleta Chappelle

Aleta Chappelle began her career in the film industry at Francis Ford Coppola’s ZOETROPE STUDIOS, where she assisted in the casting of: THE OUTSIDERS, RUMBLE FISH, HAMMETT, ON FROM THE HEART, PEGGY SUE GOT MARRIED, THE COTTON CLUB and more. She was soon promoted to casting director on Mr. Coppola’s film NEW YORK STORIES-ZOE and she did all the European casting on his film GODFATHER 3. Now with over 25 feature film casting credits, Miss Chappelle has been the casting director for numerous top directors: Sofia Coppola, Roland Emmerich, Paul Schrader, Wim Wenders, Osmond Karim, Bill Duke, Keenan Wayans,Tony Scott and she has cast 6 feature films for Martha Coolidge.

The Casting Society of America nominated her for a Best Casting Award for two of the HBO films she cast: LIFE SUPPORT and INTRODUCING DOROTHY DANDRIDGE. She has also won a Black Reel Award for Best Ensemble Casting. The Poconos Mountain Film Festival presented her with a Lifetime Career Achievement in Casting Award.

Ms. Chappelle’s feature film directing debut was the hit comedy GOOSED starring Jennifer Tilly, Joan Rivers and Damon Wayans. She has since directed 2 more features, numerous short films and documentaries. Her most recent feature film ROMEO & JULIET IN HARLEM was invited to screen at numerous film festivals in the USA and UK. She is currently in preproduction on the feature film EXTREMADURAN PORTRAITS starring Harry Lennix and Judith Diakhate. It is scheduled to shoot in Spain and Germany late spring of 2017.

In addition to her many casting and directing credits, Ms. Chappelle has taught Film Acting and Improvisation at the Hudson Opera House, Actors Haven, Newburgh Performing Arts Academy, Studio C Artists, Dorset Playhouse, the SAG Foundation, the National Theatre of Greece and Instant Theatre in Berlin.
