“First steps in acting” course

At the beginning, we’ll focus on spontaneity, creativity and how to use our imagination on stage. We’ll play scenes and create situations inspired by our personalities and by the group. Later in the course we’ll start practicing longer scenes, and the final part of the project will see us on stage, presenting a final show made of scripted scenes in front of an audience! We’ll focus on scripted material from the early stages, in order to start playing different roles right away! The activities covered by this course include: group and movement awareness exercises, exercises focused on self-expression and feelings, basics of stage language and stage movement, scene creation, exercises on spontaneity and interactions, basic character building.

This course is ideal for people who:

  • Want to explore acting to discover more about themselves
  • Want to learn to act, speak and react authentically on stage
  • Want to refine the basics of acting in an inspiring atmosphere
  • Want to get rid of shyness and nervousness in public and express themselves fully
  • Want to perform on stage in English in Berlin and be part of an international group from all over the world

FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS ABOUT THE COURSE

I have absolutely no experience, can I still join this course?
YES. This program is specifically designed for beginners and people from other artistic disciplines who would like to get to know the basics of acting.

I am shy and get really nervous in front of people, can I join?
YES. A big part of our initial work is get rid of expressive blocks and work around personal difficulties that we all have, so you’re definitely welcome to join and you’ll be in for a good experience. Our classes are extremely supportive and you’ll have all the group on your side at all times.

I have some previous acting experience, can I join?
The best thing for you is to get in contact and tell us about your previous experience. If you’ve already performed in public as an actress in a play or a theatre production in the past, you might be eligible for our Level 2 course. Otherwise this course will be probably the best match for you. Please use the Contact form.

Are there any trial classes for this course?
No. The program is only 8-week long, hence we need to use our time from the very beginning for our program. If you are not sure about joining, you can navigate our website to watch some TESTIMONIALS and get more info about what we do or watch our new Youtube videos! You can also show up at our venue in Berlin Wedding and see some of our shows. In short: we’ll bring the quality, but you will have bring the commitment from the start to the end of the project.

My English is not so good, can I still join?
YES. If you’re able to read the contents on this page, then your English will be good enough to join. Our participants come from all over the world and it’s not unusual for us in a group of 10 people to have 8-9 different nationalities (and accents) on board. It’s part of the nature of what we do.

I’m joining for professional reasons to work on public speaking, presentation skills and so on, is this course a good choice for me?
YES. Acting addresses many of these aspects naturally and in a creative way, so at the end of the course you’ll definitely be more relaxed and more self-confident on stage and in public. You can talk to us if you’re interested in some specific extra training, but a very good first step to improve your public presentation skills is to take part in our introductory course.

What else should I consider before registering?
The most important aspect for you is to make sure that you can attend most of the sessions. If you miss one or two classes it will be fine, but missing more might limit what you learn from the course and might affect the preparation of the whole group, so please check your schedule and make sure you can attend the classes as well as the final show.

Alex Casadio @instanttheatreberlin

Alex Casadio, acting trainer and founder of Instant Theatre Berlin. He’s authored the acting manual …And Acting for all and he’s constantly refining his own acting teaching method based on natural behaviour. Alex founded Instant Theatre Berlin in 2013 and he’s active as an acting trainer, theatre director, improvisation coach and performer in the Berlin scene.

This class is suitable for all levels. No previous experience needed! In English

FIRST STEPS IN ACTING
8 Weekly meetings (Mondays, 7-9 PM) + Final performance
Project duration: sessions from Monday October 26 to December 14, 2020 (Group 1, SOLD OUT)
– from Tuesday October 27 to December 17, 2020 (GROUP 2, SOLD OUT)

Final performance: To be announced (likely few days later in the week of the final class). The show will happen at our performance venue 800A in Berlin.

Meetings and rehearsals: Mondays, 7-9 PM, group 1 /// TUESDAYS 7-9 PM Group 2 at 800A Berlin, Stettiner Strasse 19 13357 Berlin.
